SPECIALIST VALVES
Dewatering Slide Gate Valve
The Large Dewatering Slide Gate Valve is a heavy-duty flow control and isolation valve specifically engineered for run-of-mine (ROM) and SAG mill feed applications. Designed to accurately start, stop, or regulate the flow of crushed ore, large stones, and abrasive grit, this valve operates reliably under extreme loads and high-impact conditions. Its robust construction and large clear opening make it ideal for dewatering and high-tonnage material handling duties where conventional valves are unsuitable.
The valve incorporates a hydraulically operated sliding gate supported by heavy-duty blade guides designed to prevent binding during operation. The blade support system is self-cleaning, ensuring reliable movement even when exposed to coarse, abrasive material. Full-perimeter seals contact only the top surface of the blade, ensuring complete closure while significantly extending seal life.
Blade thickness is evaluated and engineered for each application to minimise deflection under load. The gate blade and seal retainers are manufactured from hardened, highly wear-resistant steel, providing long service life and internal wear protection. The valve body is fully reinforced to withstand impact loading from large rocks and high bulk-density material
This slide gate valve is commonly installed at the discharge of:
- Run-of-mine feed hoppers
- SAG mill feed systems
- Dewatering chutes and slurry circuits
- High-tonnage mining and mineral processing operations
The valve is specifically designed to handle crushed ore with a bulk density of 1.6 t/m³, feeding directly into the SAG mill
- Available in any size to suit site-specific requirements
- Standard opening size: 1425 mm × 1625 mm
- Hydraulically operated gate
- Suitable for handling materials ranging from coarse fines to
very large lumps - Designed for start, stop, or controlled regulation of material flow
The Large Dewatering Slide Gate Valve can be fully customised to meet individual project requirements. Optional features include:
- Flat or slotted covers for sealing, inspection, or personnel safety
- Full enclosure designs to seal the valve to atmosphere and minimise spillage and housekeeping
- Custom blade materials, liners, and seal configurations based on wear severity and duty cycle
- Each valve is engineered to suit the specific material characteristics, hopper geometry, and operational demands of the installation
